Suggested Language for Making a Bequest to Lincoln Park Zoo
You may include a bequest to support Lincoln Park Zoo when preparing your will or by adding a codicil to your present will. Bequests may be of cash, securities, real estate or other property. Bequests of all sizes are welcome, whether they are outright, contingent or residual.
Your request should be directed to The Lincoln Park Zoological Society. The following language may be useful to your attorney:
Specific Bequest – “I give The Lincoln Park Zoological Society, Chicago, Illinois, 60614, the sum of $__________ to be used for the general support of Lincoln Park Zoo.”
Residual Bequest – “I give The Lincoln Park Zoological Society, Chicago, Illinois, 60614, _______ percent of the residue of my estate to be used for the general support of Lincoln Park Zoo.”
Contingent Bequest – “In the event that ______________________ predeceases me, I give The Lincoln Park Zoological Society, Chicago, Illinois, 60614, the sum of $___________(or, alternatively, __________ percent of the residue of my estate) to be used for the general support of Lincoln Park Zoo.”
If your are considering designating how your bequest will be used by the zoo or establishing an endowed fund through your estate plans, please contact (or have your professional advisor contact) Marilyn Schaffer, Director of Planned Giving, at 312-742-2167 or email@example.com.
