About

Adam joined the AZA Population Management Center in 2024 after ten years of experience in zoos and aquariums across the U.S. Adam has worked at the National Aviary, North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, Carolina Raptor Center, and Racine Zoo in animal husbandry and training roles. He has been involved in several free-flight bird programs and helped train a variety of cooperative husbandry behaviors such as tail blood draws with tigers, jugular blood draws with giraffes, and vaccinations for lions.

While obtaining his B.S. in Zoology and M.S. in Environmental Conservation from UW Madison, he studied large herbivores in Kenya, fire ecology in Yellowstone National Park, and the distribution of short-eared owls and long-eared owls in Wisconsin.

Adam is interested in the wellbeing of animals in human care and how interdisciplinary approaches can maximize animal welfare.
