Guest Experience Positions

Zoo Ambassador

Year-round Position
Time Commitment: Four hours per week for at least six months
Shifts: Daily from 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. or 1–4:30 p.m.

Zoo Ambassador volunteers enthusiastically assist visitors with questions and wayfinding, provide information on daily events, and ensure each guest has an exemplary visit in this 49-acre urban oasis. Zoo ambassadors rotate between key areas on grounds, including Searle Visitor Center and animal buildings, to welcome guests and provide tips for discovering all Lincoln Park Zoo has to offer!

Volunteers Must:

• Attend a day-long zoo orientation
• Attend and complete all required training courses.
• Be at least 18 years old
• Be comfortable in a collaborative environment and adhere to zoo policies, procedures, and guest-service standards
• Be comfortable traversing zoo grounds in all weather conditions; accommodations can be made
• Complete an online application
• Successfully complete an interview with the Volunteer Services department
• Complete and pass a standard criminal background chec
• Commit to volunteering four hours per week for a minimum of six months
• Be fully vaccinated (per CDC guidelines) for COVID-19
