Overview

Join Adam Selzer, author, podcaster, and host of Mysterious Chicago Tours, for spine-tingling walkabouts that dig into the zoo’s cemetery roots and locations from throughout its allegedly haunted history. These popular tours will sell out quickly, so scare up some tickets for yourself before they disappear!

Tours take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October:

  • Tuesdays | October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
  • Wednesdays | October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
  • Tours take place at 7 p.m. Beginning October 15, tours are also available at 8:30 p.m.
  • Ages 16 and older
  • Tours are approximately 75 minutes long
  • Ages 16 and older
  • $35 (20% off for Lincoln Park Zoo members)

Haunted History tours take place in and around Lincoln Park Zoo. There will be no zoo food or beverage locations open for this event.

About Our Tour Guide: Adam Selzer is the host of Mysterious Chicago tours and the author of such books as Graceland Cemetery: Chicago Stories, Symbols and Secrets; The Ghosts of Chicago: The Windy City’s Most Famous Haunts; Mysterious Chicago: History at Its Coolest, and H.H. Holmes: The True History of the White City Devil. He appears regularly on the History Channel, Travel Channel, and a huge variety of podcasts and radio shows. Look for his ghost tours, cemetery tours, and other historical tours year-round!

Is this event accessible?

What are the age restrictions for this event?

This event is for guests ages 16 years and older. All guests must have a ticket.

Can I purchase tickets at the gate?

Unfortunately, we cannot sell tickets at the gate for this event. Please purchase your tickets ahead of time through tickets.lpzoo.org/.

My plans changed and I can no longer attend. What is the refund and exchange policy?

All Lincoln Park Zoo event tickets are nonrefundable. If you are not able to make it, feel free to give your ticket to a friend or family member 16 years or older. The event will be held rain or shine. Please dress accordingly!

Will more tickets become available at a later date?

No. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. We suggest buying them early, as we cannot guarantee tickets will remain available.

How do I enter the event and can I re-enter once checked in?

Please meet at The Patio at Cafe Brauer (near the southwest end of the zoo) to get your tickets scanned. Tickets, displayed on your smartphone or a printed sheet of paper, will be scanned upon arrival. Only those with a ticket will be allowed on the tour. Re-entry is not permitted once the tour begins.

Is parking available?

Paid parking is available in the zoo’s parking lot located at Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive (2400 N. Cannon Drive). The zoo is also accessible by train via the Armitage and Fullerton stations and by bus via the 22, 36, 151, and 156 routes.

Do I need to print my ticket?

Nope! All guests must show their ticket for entry. For the most efficient experience, please have your QR code ready on your smartphone.

Will I see animals?

None of the animal houses will be open for this event.

What if it rains?

This event takes place rain or shine. Please dress accordingly. Tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable.

Will there be food available for purchase?

No food or beverage locations will be open for this event.

What can't I bring or do at the event?

Please make note of these restricted items:

  • NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES
  • No folding chairs
  • No luggage of any kind
  • No animals (except service animals)
  • No coolers (unless medically required)
  • No illegal substances
  • No noisemakers or balloons
  • No Segways or motorized scooters
  • No thermal containers
  • No weapons
  • No remote-controlled aircrafts or drones
  • No items deemed dangerous or inappropriate

Alcohol purchased outside the zoo is prohibited, and we ask that you refrain from smoking tobacco and cannabis inside the gates for the health and safety of animals and visitors. Lincoln Park Zoo’s Code of Conduct can be found here.

For the safety of our visitors, staff, and animals, all bags, purses, strollers, packages, and other items carrying personal belongings are subject to inspection upon entry to Lincoln Park Zoo.
